Easy To Build Aviary Designs

Different bird owners need different aviary designs. The firstand most
important decision you will make is whether it will be an indoor or
outdoor aviary.

Outdoor Aviary

The advantages of outdoor aviary designs are that they can be larger
than indoor aviaries and ventilation isn't much of a problem. The
disadvantages however is that if you live in a cold climate then you
need to consider heating and providing greater protection against
vermin and predators. Stronger wiring is also necessary to prevent
escape.

Indoor Aviary

If you have an indoor aviary inside your home then you don't usually
need to worry about heating. It's also easier to gain access to the
birds, to look after and clean them. You can hold and play with your
birds without fear of escape (just make sure all the windows and doors
are closed). The disadvantages of indoor aviaries are that you need to
think about ventilation more carefully. They can also be noisey and
they can give off a slight smell if you don't clean them regularly like
you should.

Bird Rooms

Similar to indoor aviaries, a bird room is when you convert an entire
room in house for the purpose of looking after birds. With this design
it's important that you have access to a windows which face the sun so
that the birds have an idea of what time of day it is. The window is
also important for keeping the birds ventilated. Some bird fanciers use
bird rooms to keep a set of bird cages for breeding purposes along with
a small flight cage inside to give the birds exercise. Other bird
owners will open up the whole space allowing the birds free flight
across the room.

Triangular Shaped Aviary

This aviary design is perhaps one of the cheapest and easiest to
construct. It's similar to many of the chicken coop designs that are
available. Shaped as a triangular prism, this form of aviary has an
indoor enclosure, next to which is attached a flight cage. The
disadvantages of these are that the triangular shape is difficult for a
person to move around in, and it doesn't give the birds as much room to
fly in as a normal rectangular shaped aviary does.

Walk In Aviary Design

Walk in aviary designs usually have a double door, especially if it is
an outdoor walk in aviary. This double door prevents any escape by the
birds. It works because before entry into the second door is used, the
first door is closed. Of course the major advantage of walk in aviary
designs is that you can touch and hold your birds if you need to. When
you train them to become familiar with this activity you can teach them
to feed out of the palm of your hand.

Artistic Styled Aviaries

Decorative aviary designs are beautiful to look at, and some people buy
them as furniture, without holding birds in them at all! Old and
antique bird cages are particularly popular items to purchase. However,
if you're buying them for the purposes of holding birds then remember
to consider functionality first, instead of their aesthetic appeal. You
and your birds will welcome the decision later on when you have to
clean and maintain the aviary.

Ultra Large Aviaries

I doubt you'll be building one of these, but I thought I'd include it
anyway. Super-sized aviaries are usually built for zoos and special
bird parks. They can be the size of buildings, with great poles and
masks holding up the netting. They usually hold a variety of exotic
species and have several bird keepers maintaining them.

How to Build An Aviary

Ever since the Egyptians, birds have been a popular pet. Whether it's
a friendly finch or a talking parrot, you'll find a variety of pet
birds spread across the globe. The iconic budgie is perhaps the best
known amongst them and is very small and friendly in nature. But there
are many varieties to choose from including the canary, which was
originally used to detect harmful gases in the mines but has now been
breed into a range of beautiful colors.

No matter which species you choose. A bird fancier will usually start
off with just a single bird, which will be kept in a small bird cage.
However, it won't take long before the owner decides to get more birds
and find himself a more spacious aviary.

An aviary has many benefits over the small bird cage. Most importantly,
it's much more natural for the bird. Birds are built to fly and placing
them inside a small cage where they cannot is not good for a bird's
physical health or emotional happiness. Many bird fanciers will notice
a remarkable difference in their birds once they have transferred them
into a new aviary.

Aviaries are also more spacious and fun. The extra space allows you to
increase the number of birds you own and walk in aviaries allow you to
get some real contact with your birds. In fact, many bird enthusiasts
will manage to tame their birds so well that they'll be feeding from
the palm of their hands and perching on their shoulders.

However, the problem with aviaries is that they are usually very
expensive to buy. It's not uncommon to spend several hundred or even
thousand dollars purchasing an aviary. What's more, these bought
aviaries are usually just assembly kits which you need to construct
anyway. Because of this, people who buy an aviary often feel like they
are just being overcharged to buy materials at excessive prices

Luckily there is a better option and that's to build an aviary
yourself. Choosing this will massively reduce your costs, saving you
hundreds of dollars in the process. All you'll need is some simple
aviary plans or aviary designs and some basic tools.

It's also easier than you think as an aviary can be built in a weekend
if you have the correct instructions. You only need the most basic of
tools and materials to get yourself started and you can also customise
an aviary to suit your very own needs, something that can't be done
with a store bought option. In fact, I think you'd be surprised at what
you might accomplish if you were to decide to build an aviary.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.

ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
